Cllr Michael Mitchell today thanked voters of Lambeth and Southwark after he finished as runner-up in last Thursday's London Assembly election for the Lambeth and Southwark constituency, leading the Conservatives to leapfrog ahead of the Liberal Democrats for the first time in the constituency and helping to increase Boris Johnson's vote share in the mayoral elections. Michael said, "It was a real pleasure to represent the Conservatives in Lambeth and Southwark, and present Boris and the Party's positive vision for the future of this part of London". James Bellis, Chairman of Vauxhall Conservative Association, added, "We are delighted by Michael's result - the best ever for the Conservatives in the GLA elections for Lambeth and Southwark - and thank him for all the hard work he put in over the past 15 months. We are also delighted by the part we played in Boris's victory. It shows we are a party on the up, whilst the collapse of the Lib Dem vote round here shows that only the Conservatives can challenge the local Labour party in Lambeth".
