Alongside its general election victory, the Conservative Party secured its biggest ever vote in Vauxhall, moving to second place behind Labour and finishing with almost four times as many votes as the Liberal Democrats and Greens each secured.
Thanks to the support of so many people locally, our candidate, James Bellis, polled over 13,000 votes and increased the Conservative vote share by 6% points – meaning the Conservatives are the only opposition to Labour in our part of London. James Bellis said, “We had a fantastic result nationally and in Vauxhall. I want to thank everyone who put their trust in me and everyone else who took the time to share with me their thoughts on our local area, as part of the campaign. We fought a strong local campaign and I hope that the legacy of that campaign will be Labour councillors realising they cannot ignore the views of so many any longer.”
