Slavery Abolition
Remembered
Vauxhall
Conservatives marked the 200th Anniversary of the Abolition of
Slavery, brought about by the great Conservative MP William
Wilberforce, with two events in Clapham.
The first at
St Paul's Church, Rectory Grove was a lecture by David Davis on
Wilberforce’s 20 year campaign, conducted from Clapham, that
culminated in the Abolition Bill.
The second, a
concert at Holy Trinity Church attended by the Mayor of Lambeth,
was organised by local Conservative Stuart Barr and included
performances by children from local schools. |
